Cruizin' through the interweb and found this pic. It stopped me in my tracks!!!
The two in the picture are dead ringers for my son and his PaPa.
Now if they really had that lathe we would all be in business haha!
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most of our generation missed out on stuff like this. Almost like the baby boomers decided that working with your hands wasn't a lofty enough aspiration for their kids. Meanwhile our grandparents generation held very high esteem for the importance of fundamental mechanics, woodworking, and metalworking skills.
Somehow a basic skills gap developed between the generations, but we are rediscovering those things and teaching ourselves. We just gotta make sure to share those passions with the new generation.
Damn Right Pat! I try to get the little wizard involved in my bikes as much as possible. He already has his own tool box. I'm afraid his little brain is gonna be too good for mechanics or whatever kind of handy work, probably be good at video games though. God what has this world turned into? ? ?.......
